Bampton Archive is working on a book which will be launched in 2014 together with an exhibition.

It is to commemorate those who died in the wars of the century between 1914 and 2014.

We are taking the names from the two war memorials in the village – the main one in Lavender Square and the memorialplaque in St Mary's church.

We are aiming at putting as much information as possible into the book, not only the official information such as name, age, battalion, date and place of death, but more personal details too. We would like to know about the families of those who died, their work in life and where in Bampton they lived and of course, if possible, photographs.

If anyone has information about any of the armed forces from Bampton who died in the service of their country, please contact:

Tony Page – 01993 851 886 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
